Grown from the hearts of all who have kept Donkey Welfare With Heart going. More exciting news of The Heartland is to unfold soon. - Foster Care
DWWH has numerous approved foster carers who with guidance and supervision provide a safe, comfortable living environment for donkeys. Two or more donkeys live with foster carers in suitable grassed paddocks, with a three-sided-shelter,or stable, with fresh water, day-to-day care and supplementary hay, straw and chaff feeding as required by the donkeys at various times of the year. All health, hoof care and dietary routines are undertaken and supplied at the foster carer's expense. DWWH provides special support by arrangement to fostered donkey to discuss the needs, changes and well-being of the animals. It is the committee's rule that fostered donkeys be sent to homes within a reasonable distance from head-office in the Hunter Valley, NSW.
The donkeys are transported for a fee by DWWH to their foster home. If, for any reason, they appear to be unhappy or if the foster carer is unhappy with the donkeys, they are collected and transported by DWWH, with good will to all.
