Donkey Welfare Open Day – Sunday, September 30

Donkeys are naturally loving and soothing animals and everyone who meets a rescue donkey feels an instant connection with these gentle equines.
Donkey Welfare With Heart will give all members of the community a chance to meet and hug a rescue donkey at our first open day at The Heartland on Sunday, September 30.
The day will include meeting the donkeys, meeting the volunteers, a sausage sizzle, vegan food and hot and cold refreshments.
It will be a relaxed event for all visitors to enjoy the peaceful environment of the donkey's home at The Heartland.
The highlight of the day will be the unveiling of The Heartland sign at 12.30pm with a grand parade of donkeys led by the stirring sounds of Maitland Pipes and Drums.
Market stalls will sell a variety of goods, there will be fine art by local artists and donations are welcome to help the donkeys.
Donkey demonstrations will be held throughout the day. Visitors are welcome to walk or drive through The Heartland and take in the donkey's stories of hardship to happiness.
The Heartland is at 410 Duckenfield Road, Berry Park, near Morpeth. There is off-road parking available. Visitors are not permitted to feed the donkeys and dogs are not allowed on site.
Gates open at 11am until 3pm. Entry is $10 adult, $5 child and family discount. Please bring correct notes and coins on the day. For catering purposes please report your attendance by September 20 to or text 0497 580 598.
